M/V Songa Iridium – Update 1

As you may already know, the vessel M/V SONGA IRIDIUM (the “vessel”) chartered by YANG MING encountered a main engine fire incident which led to a power loss and subsequent contacting of the shore near Istanbul, Turkey.

The ‘Coastal Safety’ of Istanbul dispatched 4 tugs to tow the vessel to the Istanbul anchorage. We have been further informed that the ‘Coastal Safety’ has been in negotiations with YANG MING, and we presently await further updates on this regrettable incident.
