WELCOME TO ONE EUROPE AND AFRICA REGION.
Ocean Network Express (ONE) is the 6th largest container shipping company in the world! We started operations on 1 April 2018 and although we are a young company, we have a wealth of experience in shipping as we are a merger of the container shipping divisions of three Japanese shipping lines, NYK, MOL and KLine.
Since we have been in operation, we have achieved so much. We take great pride in who we are, what we do and how we do it, and our success is all down to our people.
Our people are our biggest asset. Our people make the difference!
We hope you enjoy reading about ONE and are inspired to consider joining us.

Our People make the difference.
We celebrate and maximise the different experiences and skills that a diverse workforce can bring.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
In October 2019 we launched our first ever global Employee Engagement Survey.
Worldwide, 92% of our colleagues took part and we achieved a global employment engagement score of 73%.
At ONE, employee engagement is more than just a check-box exercise - we see it as a real opportunity to understand the health of our company and the well being of our people.
We run regular pulse surveys to monitor our progress as we work to maintain and improve our employee's engagement with ONE.
WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING AT ONE?
We asked our colleagues from across Europe and Africa what it’s like to work for ONE.
Here is a small selection of their own stories.
LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
Learning requires motivation, and research shows that people who seek opportunities to learn and grow tend to achieve more than those who believe they’re born with all the abilities they’ll ever have.
The same research states that employees at companies who embrace this passion for learning and growing tend to feel more empowered and committed.
When it comes to learning at ONE, there are some things we know to be true. We call these truths our learning beliefs, and they inform how we design and deliver learning now and in the future.
First, learning is a process, not an event. It takes motivation, practice, and feedback.
Second, learning happens in real life. We learn when we’re challenged. Learning doesn’t only happen in a classroom; Research tells us that people learn on-the-job, every day.
Third, learning is personal. Everyone has their own preferences and motivations about how, when and what they learn. We want everyone to know how they learn and take an active role in shaping their own experiences.
Lastly, learning is social. Research tells us that people turn to each other most for advice, information, and help. So we intentionally create opportunities for the organisation to learn from one another and build their networks. In fact, more courses are taught by us than by external trainers.

The SAIL program continues to develop with each group of SAILors. New workshops, training, coaching, and challenges are introduced each year. Ausbildung (Germany and Austria only)
Would you like to complete your “Ausbildung" in a company that offers a start up atmosphere and at the same time profit from a lot of experience within the field of business as well as apprenticeships?
Container Shipping is a fascinating industry. Almost everything you can buy in a store, whether it is fruits, car parts, clothing, toys, audio equipment or Christmas decorations, has probably been shipped in a container. Seasons, economies, politics and demography all have an impact on the cargo that is being transported and thus our everyday work.
Shipping agents are responsible for the organisation of the transport of all sorts of goods by sea, across the globe. Whilst this is not always an easy task - it is certainly an exciting one!
This includes, for example, organising transports from the ports to the hinterland, selection of appropriate container equipment, booking the container voyage, customs, advising customers and much more.
You can find an overview of daily tasks of shipping agents as well as more information on the national German apprenticeship Scheme here (external site)
