ONE continues to invest in future industry talents with their SAIL (Shipping Apprenticeship and International Learning) Program

<5th May 2022, London> Ocean Network Express (Europe) Ltd, (ONE) has announced the launch of their SAIL program for the 4th year, recruiting across Europe and Africa to train and develop shipping professionals for the future.

ONE’s  4th, two-year program begins in September 2022 and is offered to young people across locations in Europe and Africa. The scheme offers an all-round, theoretical, and practical learning experience to successful applicants, known as SAILors, who also gain invaluable international experience. Encouraging, guiding, and advising its students, the company fosters talent and supports students in finding their professional passion, empowering them to actively contribute towards the future of ONE and the maritime industry.

The International maritime industry plays an important role in embedding sustainability in business operations and economies across the globe and at ONE, sustainability is at the heart of ONE’s business operations and culture. The company recognises that the most valuable resource to a business is talent and, in their aim to be sustainable and resilient, people development and the strengthening of its talent base is crucial to its future long-term success.

ONE’s first intake of eleven SAILors all successfully graduated the scheme in December 2020 and were given full time positions in the company. In 2020, six apprenticeship places were offered across Egypt, South Africa, and Turkey, with the SAILors currently working towards graduating in August 2022, and a further nine SAILors began the scheme in September 2021. A recent graduate of the SAIL program titled their experience as “a unique graduate scheme, where you form a team with an array of different strengths as a result of both cultural and personal backgrounds” as well as “a huge opportunity to help build on oneself going forward into the maritime industry”.

ONE’s Managing Director for Europe and Africa, Shunichiro Mizukami, said “ONE looks for individuals who are ready to be more than just an employee, we are interested in young people that share our values and drive for success. As our company continues to grow, we look to invest in talent for the future. We are proud of the SAIL program and the achievements and contributions made by our SAIL graduates, and we look forward to welcoming aboard the next generation of ONE’s young professionals”

ONE has opened the recruitment for SAILors across Europe and Africa, for its intake starting in September 2022. They are looking for candidates with a bachelor level education, with an excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal).
