REEFER CONTAINER

Our reefer solutions delivers optimal conditions for all refrigerated cargo from frozen goods to perishables and pharmaceuticals. Available container types include 20ft container and 40ft high cube to meet your specific needs.

Air, cold or warm, is supplied to the inside of a container via an air duct system that enters the container from the bottom. Air circulates under, over and through the load before it returns to the refrigeration unit. This circulation is repeated continuously when the unit is in operation.

In the nose of each refrigeration units are adjustable ventilation holes. At specific settings, these vents allow fresh air exchanges to avoid a build up of carbon dioxide inside the container. All fresh fruits and vegetables are living products and as a result give off heat and carbon dioxide. Vents allow this warm toxic air to be expelled from the container in order to avoid spoilage.

The most advanced reefer containers are computerized enabling highly precise temperature control. Transportation has become easier due to this type of precise control that ensures preserving the quality of foods such as meat, fish, eggs, vegetables and fruits, as well as films, plants and pharmaceuticals.

FAQ

Q: How do I choose the right container for my cargo?

Select a container based on your cargo’s size, weight, and whether it requires temperature control. Dry containers are used for general cargo, reefers containers for temperature-sensitive goods, and flat rack or open top containers for oversized or unusually shaped cargo. Please refer to the container size chart above for each container types to ensure proper cargo shipping.

Q: What is the difference between flat rack and open top container?

Flat rack containers are used for oversized and/or overweight cargo that does not fit in standard containers, such as machinery, timber, pipes, buses, and boats. They have collapsible end frames and multiple lashing points to secure cargo during transport.

The open top container is a type of special container without a solid roof that can be covered with a strong rubber tarpaulin. It is designed to carry oversized loads which are too large to be stuffed through the doors of a regular dry container, instead the cargo is lowered through the open top.

Q: Can I ship cargo that is longer than the Flat Rack itself?

Yes, you can ship over-length cargo with Ocean Network Express (ONE), but the method depends on the dimensions. For cargo that exceeds the length of a single unit, ONE specialists often use a "bed of Flat Racks" (multiple units placed side-by-side or end-to-end). This creates a continuous platform to support oversized items like luxury yachts or industrial turbines, transitioning the shipment into the Breakbulk (BB) category.
