South Africa Terminal and Vessel Update - 24th April 2020

TPT Terminal operations continue to work well with the below structure. At present both main terminals in Durban and Cape Town continue to have reduced average berthing delays now 3-4 days with some vessels earlier [MOL Explorer a good example see below].

The State Presidents speech on Thursday 23rd April advised that we move to a slightly reduced level [4] of lock down from level [5] with effect from 1st May 2020. What will happen in terms of terminals and landside movements of cargo will become apparant in the coming days, but at terminal level TPT had indicated a full resumption on all berths with effect from 2nd May. We will advise as soon as we have more info but clearly this will have a positive impact on forward berth plans once we have visibility on this. Therefore, do note we might see an improvement in berthing times for vessels in May.

Note – SA terminals will be closed from 0600hrs 01th May to 0600hrs 02nd May for workers day.
Note - There can be variables to gang use below dependent on specific vessel stowage.

As at 23rd April

Cape Town Container Terminal              - 2 berths / 4-6 gangs [3 berths from 02nd May]
Cape Town Multipurpose Terminal        - 1 berth / 2 gangs [TBA]
Coega Container Terminal                     - 1 berth / 4 gangs [3 berths from 02nd May]
Port Elizabeth Container Terminal         - 1 berth / 3 gangs [2 berths from 02nd May]
Durban Pier 1 Terminal                          - 1 berth / 5 gangs [2 berths from 02nd May]
Durban Pier 2 Terminal                          - 4 berths / 10 gangs [TBA]
Durban Multipurpose Terminal               - 1 berths / 2 gangs [TBA]
