Temporary Inland Haulage Premium - Effective 15th August 2021

Further to the recent reports in the media about UK landside operations and the associated impact, you will be aware of the well documented challenges the road, rail, port and terminal sectors are experiencing at present, and as consumers many of you will have seen the constraints first hand.

A growing concern is the stark shortfall in driver availability. Due to a combination of multiple factors relating to the Brexit impact, regulatory changes and of course the implications of Covid-19 to the workforce both at home and abroad, there is a significant shortage of drivers in all sectors ranging from retail to container work. The deficit number is estimated to be between 60,000 - 100,000 and multiple organisations are lobbying the UK government for short and long term changes in the way that the UK attracts, recruits and retains drivers post Brexit.

As ONE we realise the severe impact this situation has on the supply chain and are therefore introducing the following:

Flexible collection times
Ocean Network Express has resources available during the afternoon for both collection and delivery slots which often goes unused and contributes towards the bottleneck we tend to see for morning demands. On this basis, we encourage customers to reconsider their requests to allow greater flexibility and optimise availability.

Temporary Inland haulage premium (INP) of £45 per container
To assist our hauliers in both retaining and encouraging the services of drivers within the container sector, ONE will implement a temporary Inland haulage premium of £45 per container. This will be applicable for all collections and deliveries within the UK on a multi-trade basis. The effective date will be applicable to collections / deliveries from the 15th August 2021 and will be in place until further notice.

We appreciate your ongoing support in assisting towards striving to maintain the expectations of all parties involved within the UK supply chain.
