Osaka Shosen Kaisha (OSK Lines) is founded.

 

1885

Yubin Kisen Mitsubishi Kaisha and Kyodo Unyu Kaisha merge on September 29 to form Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK); new company inaugurates operations on October 1 with a fleet of 58 steamships.

 

 

1919

 

 

Established as Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.

1942

 

Mitsui Steamship Co., Ltd. founded.

 

1964

Yubin Kisen Mitsubishi Kaisha and Kyodo Unyu Kaisha merge on September 29 to form Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK); new company inaugurates operations on October 1 with a fleet of 58 steamships.

OSK Lines and Mitsui Steamship Co. Ltd merge to form Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd (MOL). Nitto Shosen and Daido Kaiun merge to form Japan Line, Ltd. (JL). Yamashita Kisen and Shinnihon Kisen merge to form Yamashita-Shinnihon Steamship Co., Ltd. (YSL)

Merged with Iino Kisen Kaisha to become the core company of the Kawasaki Kisen group, capitalized at 9 billion yen.

1989

 

Japan Line and Yamashita-Shinnihon Steamship merge to form Navix Line (NL).

 

1998

NYK acquires Showa Line Co. Ltd.

 

 

1999

 

MOL and Navix merge, establish new Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.

 

2016

Decides the integration of container shipping businesses.

 

Signed a business integration contract with Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. for the containership businesses and overseas container terminal businesses.

2017

Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd. was founded.

2018

Service begins as Ocean Network Express.
